Due to this, many hospitals have invested heavily in heart failure clinics that will offer specialized care to the patients. Since the most important function of the clinic will be to reduce the morbidity and mortality rates due to heart failure, there is a need to identify the right staffing pattern that will enable the delivery of better care to the patients (Everhart et al., 2013). This will be achieved through a detailed staffing plan. The plan will offer insight into the staffing strategies which the hospital will use to offer the best care to the patient while keeping the staffing costs manageable.The nurses should understand the role that is played by other disciplines in ensuring appropriate staffing. Understanding the role that is played by other participants will enable the nurses to identify who can perform a certain task best. For appropriate staffing, some of the disciplines that are required include a cardiologist, clinical nurse specialist, occupational therapist, dieticians, and a pharmacist (Frankenstein, Frohlich & Cleland, 2015). The right skill mix will be based on a balanced schedule which will evaluate the skills of the staff and then balance them according to their competency. The most suitable patient/staff ratio should not exceed 5:1. By disciplines, the clinic will utilize competency guidelines from accredited professional bodies such as American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation (AACPR).
