I am and have been a small group leader (Therapy group) at my church for some time now. I have encountered many situations and issues that arose that disrupted effective communication with the group members. The first one I want to mention is cross talk within the group members. This talk occurs between individuals during someone’s sharing time. These individuals are caring on a conversation between themselves leaving the group out. In addition, these individuals should be listening to the speaker or person who is sharing at that time. This behavior disrupts the group, shows no respect for the person who is talking, and just adds to much confusion and noise to the group.
